An open letter to Emily Henderson MP for Whangarei
Dear Emily
THREE (5) WATERS
We are local residents writing to you to express our strong objection to Three Waters.
You were elected as the Member of Parliament for Whangarei to represent us in Wellington. You haven’t done that. What you have done is support legislation that has been imposed upon us against our will.
Three Waters has been a lie from the beginning. It was never about safer drinking water, saving money, or achieving operational efficiencies.
The Labour Party-controlled select committee rejected the +80,000 submissions against Three Waters and strengthened the Te Mana O Te Wai provisions to make three waters five waters, and under urgency and without any public consultation, Nanaia Mahuta and the Green Party colluded to introduce an unconstitutional entrenchment clause.
We are giving you this message that we do not agree to our local water infrastructure being taken from us. They are our assets – they are not yours to take.
We are calling on you to represent us, the people you were elected to represent, and vote against Three Waters.
This issue is important, and we will hold you to account when we again have the power to say who we send to Wellington to represent us.
